Tribe Apps Β· District
What every local directory gets wrong is not the design β it is that the data is dead. A PDF from 2019, a number that rings somewhere else, and no way to tell whether anywhere is open. District fixes that by letting each business run its own listing.
A claimed listing reads the hours that business set this morning, in its own timezone. The open-now pill is computed, never typed β so it cannot rot the way a printed table does.
Businesses running their shop on the same system show their real card β current prices, today's sold-out items β and the order button goes straight to it.
Events and deals from every member on one page, so the district has something worth checking rather than something to look up once.
A business finds its own listing and takes it over β from the page, or by scanning the code on a screen in the window. No account needed to ask.
Start
Cards the office types in β name, category, what they do. Enough to be useful on day one, and openly static. This is the part every directory already has.
Then
A claim arrives, the office approves it, and that card stops being a card. Hours, menu and status now come from the business itself.
Result
A live listing sitting next to a static one is the whole pitch, visible on the page. Nobody has to be told which they would rather have.
A district is not a separate product bolted on. Its members' menus, hours and events are the live ones, because they come from the same place the businesses already manage β which is why a claimed listing can never drift out of date.
